Orrefors – Basilica di San Marco – No. 3 – Year 1972 – Famous Places of Worship Annual Series
Basilica di San Marco. This is the third plate in the annual series Famous Places of Worship (sometimes referred to as Historical Churches of the World) by Swedish world renowned glass manufacturer Orrefors. It was made in 1972. Every detail of the engraving is filled with pure gold. Designer John Selbing at Orrefors was responsible for the development of the plate, as well as the process by which the design is engraved in the crystal.
The Patriarchal Cathedral Basilica of Saint Mark is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Venice, Italy. It is a true example of the Byzantine architecture. It lies on Piazza San Marco, adjacent and connected to the Doge's Palace.
Measure Ø 25 cm / 9,84 inches. The plate comes in excellent to perfect condition. The gold-coloured box with lid comes in good condition. Inside the box is a blue cloth display.
Included with the plate is a separate wooden display frame. It comes separately boxed in excellent condition.
This is a very elegant collectible.
