"Breakfast at Mr. Badger's" – Wedgwood – The Wind in the Willows Collector Plate
Art by Eric Kincaid and authentic Wedgwood Bone China, Made in England on back. Eric Kincaid signature on front. This plate has the number "38" engraved on back. On the backside there is also a quotation from the famous children's novel The Wind in the Willows by British author Kenneth Grahame:
"So the good-natured Mole, having cut some slices of ham, set the hedgehogs to fry it, and returned to his own breakfast, while the Otter and the Rat, their heads together, eagerly talked river-shop, which is long shop and talk that is endless, running on like the babbling river itself. A plate of fried ham had just been cleared and sent back for more, when the Badger entered, yawning and rubbing his eyes."
This lovely plate depicts the scene. Otter, Ratty and Mole are sitting by the table eating their breakfast and talking, while Badger, obviously newly awakened, enters the kitchen. There is a certain care for detail. The colours are vivid and artist Eric Kincaid knows how to convey the atmosphere of this great classic story.
The plate comes in perfect condition. There is no box and no hanging device.
Price: € 49.50.
