"Gypsy Caravan" – Wedgwood – The Wind in the Willows Collector Plate

Art by Eric Kincaid and authentic Wedgwood Bone China, Made in England on back. Eric Kincaid signature on front. This plate has the number "163" engraved on back and a label saying "Quality approved. Inspector no 3". On the backside there is also a quotation from the famous children's novel The Wind in the Willows by British author Kenneth Grahame:

"It was a golden afternoon. The smell of the dust they kicked up was rich and satisfying; out of thick orchards on either side of the road, birds called and whistled to them cheerily; good-natured wayfarers, passing them, gave them 'Good day,' or stopped to say nice things about their beautiful cart; and rabbits, sitting at their front doors in hedgerows, held up their fore-paws, and said 'O my! O my! O my!'"

This lovely plate depicts the scene. The canary yellow cart with green details is drawn by a white horse. Ratty is sitting on the front and Toad is holding the reins. Mole is walking before them. Rabbits are standing beside the road amazingly watching them as they pass by. There is a certain care for detail. The colours are vivid and artist Eric Kincaid knows how to convey the atmosphere of this great classic story.

The plate comes in perfect condition. There is no box and no hanging device.

Price: € 49.50.
