"Poop-Poop!" – Wedgwood – The Wind in the Willows Collector Plate
Art by Eric Kincaid and authentic Wedgwood Bone China, Made in England on back. Eric Kincaid signature on front. This plate has the number "180" engraved on back. On the backside there is also a quotation from the famous children's novel The Wind in the Willows by British author Kenneth Grahame:
"The 'poop-poop' rang with a brazen shout in their ears, they had a moment's glimpse of an interior of glittering plate-glass and rich morocco, and the magnificent motor-car, breath-snatching, passionate, with its driver tense and hugging the wheel, flung an enveloping cloud of dust that blinded and enwrapped them utterly, and then dwindled to a speck in the far distance.'"
This lovely plate depicts the scene. An old motor-car with a driver and three passengers carelessly passes the three friends and their horse. Their cart lies crashed in the ditch, Mole is trying to calm the horse, Ratty and Toad are sitting on the ground. Toad looks amazed and enchanted. There is a certain care for detail. The colours are vivid and artist Eric Kincaid knows how to convey the atmosphere of this great classic story.
The plate comes in perfect condition. There is no box and no hanging device.
