Hand coined Replica of Swedish Silver Daler from 1542 – Gustav Vasa, King of Sweden

This hand coined replica of Swedish Silver Daler from 1542 is made in Sweden by Medaljmakarna Nordmark & Richloow, Färentuna Smide, Sweden. 

On one side is Gustav Vasa, King of Sweden 1523–1560, surrounded by the words: GOTWAN REX GOSTAVS DGSW (?). On the other is – Christ (?) – with the words: ADIVVA (?) NOS 1542 SALVATOR MUNDI.

The first Swedish coins were made in the town of Sigtuna before 1000 A.D. The Swedish silver daler was made from 1534 and was legal tender for more than 300 years. Its content of silver was 875 °/oo and its weight 29,25 g (1.03 oz). During the years 1541–1545 all Sweden's coins were made at Svartsjö Castle situated on one of the islands in Lake Mälaren in the close vicinity to Stockholm. 

The replica measures approx. 3,9 cm / 1,53 inches. It comes mint in box with a little booklet in Swedish.
